We're Mark and Jen Marshall, co-owners of Relax The Back Louisville and proud members of this community since opening our doors in February 2015. Before this, we spent nearly twenty years as Physician Assistants in primary care, orthopedics, and spine surgery — helping patients understand their bodies, manage pain, and recover function. That background didn't leave us when we changed careers. It shapes every conversation we have in this store.

Our path here was personal. Mark developed two cervical disc herniations from the prolonged forward-flexed posture required in the operating room. What began as discomfort became persistent pain and neuropathy — and a firsthand understanding of how life narrows when pain is constant. Sleep suffers. Focus fades. Simple tasks feel harder than they should. We knew that experience clinically. Then we lived it. That changed everything about how we approach this work.

When we discovered Relax The Back, the mission resonated immediately. Listening carefully, educating honestly, and guiding people toward solutions matched to their body and their life — that's what patient-centered care looks like. It felt less like changing careers and more like continuing our calling through a different door.

Our team includes Kevin Arnold, who joined us in 2021 with more than twenty years of experience in the sleep and furniture industry. Kevin's expertise in mattress construction, materials, and adjustable systems gives him rare insight into how design decisions directly affect spinal support, pressure relief, and sleep quality.

Together we bring clinical understanding, lived experience, and hands-on product expertise to every consultation.
